Lectures were held at KRSU on the contribution of Muslims and Orthodox Christians to the Great Victory

On September 29, in the large assembly hall of the main building of KRSU, a discussion meeting was held on the topic: «The Russian Orthodox Church and the Islamic Umma during the Great Patriotic War».

Lectures were given by PSTGU professor, Archpriest Alexander Mazyrin (as part of events dedicated to the memory of the outstanding figure of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Guria (Egorov)) and professor of the Islamic University of Kyrgyzstan Nuratbek Mendibaev. Students – teachers and students of KRSU – were told about the contribution of Muslims and Orthodox Christians to the Great Victory.

Shortly before the lectures, at the rector’s office, a meeting was held between acting, KRSU rector Denis Fomin-Nilov, acting, vice-rector for information and public relations Leonid Sumarokov, and a delegation led by Bishop Savvaty of Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan. The delegates personally congratulated D. Fomin-Nilov on his appointment to the position of rector, then the parties discussed the holding of festive events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the university, issues of interaction between the Bishkek Diocese and KRSU, and the preservation of historical memory.

At the end of the visit, the guests visited the archaeological museum of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
