The first meeting of the Academic Council of the new academic year took place at KRSU
On August 25, the first meeting of the Academic Council of the 2025/2026 academic year was held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. The meeting was opened by the rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov, outlining the strategic directions for the development of the university.
The main topic of the meeting was infrastructure development issues. The rector noted that renovation work at the university is being carried out in difficult conditions, but positive changes are already noticeable. According to him, the main building is gradually being updated: window structures have been replaced, and the hall is being overhauled, which will become a multifunctional space. Roof repairs are also being completed, utility networks and sanitary facilities are being modernized. In the near future, new men's and women's bathrooms will appear in every building of the university. Particular attention is paid to plans for the construction of a flexible fund and new dormitories, which will provide housing for about 600 students.
Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Elena Devyatova summed up the results of the past academic year and outlined the tasks for the new one. She said that the university will introduce a 1C:University system, which will optimize the management of the educational process and increase its transparency. In addition, KRSU has created the first digital repository in Central Asia, combining the educational, scientific and methodological resources of the university. It provides open access to research results, teaching materials and electronic library holdings. For students, this is free access to current knowledge, for teachers — convenient tools for storing and distributing scientific works, for the university — increasing academic visibility and integration into the international scientific space.
For the 2025–2026 academic year, KRSU sets the task of updating educational programs, launching new master's programs, developing network projects with leading Russian universities, introducing modern digital platforms and strengthening the practical orientation of education. All this corresponds to the university’s development strategy until 2030.
Vice-Rector for Youth and Information Policy Stanislav Kulikov spoke about the work of the summer camp «Zhashtyk» on Issyk-Kul. During the summer, 269 students visited there, for whom educational and cultural programs were organized. He also informed about the submission of applications for the scholarship of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic: 13 students were nominated from KRSU. In addition, Kulikov presented a project for social support for university employees. Separately, the rector noted the improvement of the recreation center «Zhashtyk» on Issyk-Kul. This is 6.5 hectares of land with excellent conditions, where students and staff vacationed in the summer, and the III Russian-Kyrgyz Media Forum was also held.
Secretary of the Academic Council Lyudmila Filippovskaya summed up the results of the organization’s activities in the 2024–2025 academic year and presented a work plan for the new period. Among the decisions made are — approval of the basic curriculum of secondary school KRSU and the topics of the dissertation work of graduate student Alexey Kulikovsky. The results of the admissions campaign were also reviewed, which confirmed the high interest of applicants in the university.
Particular attention was paid to issues of social infrastructure. Already in September, a clinic will begin operating at the university, which will become not only the base for the medical faculty, but also an important element of medical care for students and staff. In the future, it is planned to build a university clinic and kindergarten.
Summing up the meeting, the rector of KRSU noted the importance of dialogue between the administration and the staff, emphasizing that only through joint efforts can the university be made modern and convenient for students and teachers. The Academic Council outlined the main vectors of development: infrastructure renewal, digitalization of educational processes, support for students and staff, as well as strengthening the social base of the university. KRSU celebrates the new academic year with ambitious goals and specific steps to implement them.
