KRSU has restored the fate of the missing person in the Battle of Kursk
On March 9, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University officially confirmed that the Kyrgyz citizen who went missing in 1943 actually died during the Battle of Kursk. This was announced at the XI regional scientific and practical student conference «Family memory of the war», organized by the Belgorod State National Research University.
Vice-Rector of KRSU Leonid Sumarokov spoke about the fate of Red Army soldier Shamsha Egemzharov, who became a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR of the first convocation in 1938, during a video bridge. The scientist has been restoring the history of the participation of deputies of the first Kyrgyz parliament in the Great Patriotic War for several years and wrote a book on this matter «Front Roads of People's Deputies. In memory of the deputies of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR of the first convocation».
For many years, the fate of the 15 people's representatives remains unknown. A banal accident committed during the battles in the 600th Infantry Regiment of the 147th Infantry Division – sending a funeral for a deceased soldier with the name Shamysh and the surname Egeshzharov to the Omsk region, Krutinsky district, the village of Irdynsk, instead of the Osh region, Kurshab district, the village of Irdyk, for 80 years included Shamshi Egemzharova on the list of missing persons. As a result, in the village of Kosilovo, Gaivoronsky region, Belgorod region of Russia, on the stele of the mass grave of soldiers and officers who died during the liberation of this settlement in August 1943, – Shamysh Egeshzharov. As Leonid Sumarokov stated, the collected documents confirm that Shamysh Egeshzharov and Shamshi Egemzharov are the same person.
The conference was attended by the grandson of the front-line soldier Kubatbek Shamshiev and the deputy director of the Kosilovskaya school Natalya Matchina. It is the schoolchildren of this educational institution who care for the mass grave in the village of Kosilovo.
Kubatbek Shamshiev noted that he and his fellow countrymen always considered Shamshi Egemzharov a brave fighter who fulfilled his military duty with honor. A school was named in his memory in the village of Irdyk in the Osh region. The grandson considers it his duty to visit his grandfather’s grave and personally express gratitude to the Kosilovites for preserving the memory of the soldiers of the 300th Infantry Regiment. He will also seek official recognition of Shamshi Egimzharov as killed in the Great Patriotic War.
According to the battle log, the 600th Rifle Regiment took its starting position on the main offensive direction of the 147th Rifle Division on August 4, 1943, with the task of advancing towards the southwestern outskirts of the village of Kosilovo. On August 5, the regiment began to pursue retreating enemy units. By 1300, repelling enemy counterattacks, the regiment ceased its advance until the next morning. During the course of 5 August – the night of 6 August, the enemy made 10 counterattacks On 6 August, after a fire strike on the enemy by Guards mortar units, up to 200 Soviet tanks with motorized infantry passed through the regiment's positions. After this, as stated in the report on the combat path of the unit, the 600th Infantry Regiment, having said goodbye to those who fell in battle, folded and marched for three days.
