Second meeting of the KRSU Board of Trustees: from the results of the year — to a sustainable development model

2 february 2026

The second meeting of the Board of Trustees took place at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. It was a continuation of systematic work on the development of the university and confirmed the transition of KRSU from targeted solutions to a long-term strategy based on partnership between the state, business and the academic community.

Rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov spoke about the issues raised at the meeting, agreements reached and key decisions.

According to him, one of the key results of the meeting was confirmation of the real participation of trustees in the development of the university: this is both financial and meaningful participation - through investments in infrastructure, support of educational programs and participation in strategic decisions of KRSU.

«Generally speaking, the contribution of trustees today is about 60 million. This is the contribution of people and companies who are truly partial to the university. At the same time, KRSU also works for trustees — we train personnel for those industries and study programs that they represent», — the rector noted.

Separately, Sergey Volkov emphasized the decision on an additional contribution to the KRSU Endowment Fund. The company «Bishkek Salar» allocated 10 million to the university’s endowment fund, which was an important step towards the formation of a sustainable extra-budgetary financing model.

«We are very grateful to colleagues for this contribution. Endowment —is an investment in the sustainable future of the university, in its educational and scientific projects», he said.

Substantial attention at the meeting was paid to issues of practice-oriented training. In particular, they discussed paid internships and internships for students, which are considered as one of the key tools for improving the quality of training and subsequent employment of graduates.

A significant area of discussion was the development of university sports. According to the rector, the trustees decided to invest in supporting KRSU national teams, including training with the participation of the strongest coaches and creating conditions for stable sports results.

In addition, during the meeting the prospects for opening new classrooms and educational spaces were considered. In the near future, KRSU plans to open a personalized auditorium «Eldikbank», as well as an auditorium of the Wildberries company, which will function as a center for entrepreneurship and the formation of digital competencies among students.

A separate item on the agenda was the opening of a branch of KRSU in the southern part of the Kyrgyz Republic. Sergei Volkov noted that this project is under the special control of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Kamchybek Tashiev, and expressed confidence in its practical implementation.

During the meeting, a number of documents on cooperation were signed, recording the transition from framework agreements to practical mechanisms of interaction.

The key event was the signing of a memorandum between KRSU and the Rosatom state corporation. The document provides for the development of joint educational, scientific and engineering initiatives, as well as the participation of the corporation in infrastructure projects of the university. The central element of cooperation will be the functioning of a hydropower project office based on KRSU with a focus on the introduction of additive technologies and digital solutions in the renewable energy sector.

In addition, agreements were signed with the State Tax Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as documents within the framework of the creation of the International Center for Professional Training together with the Academy named after Zh. Ya. Kotin (St. Petersburg) and PJSC «Kirov Plant». These agreements are aimed at developing dual and network education, expanding practical training for students and creating continuous educational routes.

Summing up the meeting, Sergei Volkov noted that all participants of the Board of Trustees recorded positive dynamics in the development of the university.

«That makes us happy, but we don't stop there. The university will develop further — systematically and consistently», — the rector emphasized.
