Challenges of international humanitarian law and prospects for its teaching in universities

An international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions was held in Bishkek on the topic: «Challenges of international humanitarian law and prospects for its teaching in universities».

The organizers were the Department of International and Constitutional Law of the Faculty of Law KRSU, the ICRC Mission in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Coordination Council for Teaching IHL in the Kyrgyz Republic, Brest State University. A.S. Pushkin (Belarus) and the Faculty of Law named after. M.M. Speransky IPNB RANEPA (Russia).

The participants discussed current problems of IHL and the challenges of modern armed conflicts, analyzed the existing practice of teaching IHL in universities and assessed the practical significance of consolidating the academic community in this area.

The conference was attended by leading scientists, graduate students and other interested in IHL from Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. All participants were issued certificates.
