Guardians of the philosophical heritage
The Department of Philosophy named after Academician A. Kakeev, in honor of the annual celebration of UNESCO World Philosophy Day, which this year fell on November 17, held an International Scientific and Practical Conference «Humanities and social sciences in modern education: state and prospects». On this day, the entire world and scientific community not only joins the rich philosophical heritage of humanity, but also holds events at which the most pressing problems caused by modern reality are discussed.
In the first half of the day the student section took place «Youth and humanities education: yesterday, today, tomorrow», in which students and undergraduates of the Department of Philosophy took part and made presentations on such current topics as the place of humanities and philosophy in the higher education system, the state, prospects and role of philosophical knowledge in the formation of value orientations of youth and the need for humanities education.
After the breakout session of the conference, according to tradition, the senior students held a ceremonial initiation of the freshmen into philosophers. The motto of the event was: «We are philosophers – one family!». As always, the dedication was not limited to just the solemn singing of the philosophers' anthem, but was accompanied by a festive mood, humor from student life, philosophical jokes, fun competitions with the participation of teachers «Guess the Philosopher!», «Glossary», as well as an intellectual quiz on ancient and Eastern philosophy. At the end of the event, 2nd year student Anzhelika Ivanskaya read poems of her own composition dedicated to philosophy:
Oh, philosophy – the wisest of all
Other sciences – your children, however
You give all the guidelines for those
To whom is the truth greater than the truth
And you will help those who are lost
Considering yourself to be distant forever.
You will live forever and not die
After all, every person has a part of you.
In the afternoon, the section began operating in the main building of KRSU «Philosophy and liberal arts education: status, problems, prospects», also dedicated to World Philosophy Day, which was attended not only by the entire teaching staff, doctoral students and graduate students of the Department of Philosophy KRSU, but also by 16 representatives of the Russian philosophical and scientific community, in particular from the Institute of Philosophy of St. Petersburg State University (Professor A. Kolesnikov), Moscow State University named after. M. Lomonosov (Associate Professor V. Zyryanov), Institute of Demographic Research (IDI) FNISC RAS (Professor G. Osadchaya, T. Yudina, O. Volkova), representatives of the Institute of Philosophy and Socio-Political Sciences of the Southern Federal University (M. Didyk, E. Lipets, O. Muradyan, A. Raevsky, E. Samuseva), as well as philosophers from the Altai State Technical University. AND. Polzunov, Moscow City Pedagogical University, Institute of Business and Technology of the Russian New University, Belgorod State National Research University.
At the meeting of this section, topical issues about the meaning and mission of philosophy in modern education, updating its value-worldview meaning and role in the conditions of transnational culture, sociocultural transformations and modern digitalization were discussed. Also, a lively discussion among the conference participants was caused by the problems of modernization of humanitarian education, the specifics of social sciences and humanities in modern conditions, the need to introduce joint Kyrgyz-Russian network educational programs to study the problems of Eurasian integration, etc.
In general, the international scientific and practical conference «Humanities and social sciences in modern education: state and prospects» dedicated to World Philosophy Day was held at a high scientific and theoretical level, in an atmosphere imbued with science and the spirit of involvement in the world of philosophy.
