Anniversary «Russian word in Kyrgyzstan»
On October 21, 2021, a round table meeting was held in the main building of KRSU dedicated to the anniversary of the Institute of Russian Language KRSU, which turned one year old, and the 10th anniversary of the information and analytical journal «Russian Word in Kyrgyzstan». During the event, scientists, politicians, government officials, representatives of educational and public organizations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation discussed the prospects for the preservation and development of the Russian language in the Central Asian region, and further steps to strengthen its position in Kyrgyzstan.
Opening the event, Doctor of Philology, Director of the Institute of Russian Language KRSU M.J. Tagaev spoke about the tasks of the Russian Language Institute and new trends in the study of language problems. In particular, he spoke about the recently completed business trip of employees of the Russian Language Institute to Osh and Jalal-Abad in order to conduct sociolinguistic research about the place of the Russian language in the life of the population of the southern region, about its relevance in various spheres of public life, etc. M.J. Tagaev emphasized that during the first year of operation of the Russian Language Institute KRSU, regular partnerships were established with the Pushkin Institute (Moscow), North Caucasus Federal University (Stavropol), Siberian Federal State University (Krasnoyarsk) and other Russian universities. The scientist noted that Kyrgyzstan and Russia have common educational standards, cultural values and the Eurasian mentality laid down during the Soviet period, and therefore the Russian language cannot be a foreign language for Kyrgyz.
The participants of the anniversary meeting were welcomed by KRSU Vice-Rector for Information and Public Relations L.I. Sumarokov, who noted that «the decision to create the Russian Language Institute at KRSU was timely and necessary. We hope that the Institute will be able to consolidate the entire teaching community, university teachers and school teachers and will direct all its efforts to preserve the Russian-speaking educational space in Kyrgyzstan. A lot of work has been done in one year, but there are even more ambitious plans ahead –.
Press Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan V.A. Kharchenko congratulated the staff of the Russian Language Institute and the editors of the magazine «Russian Word in Kyrgyzstan» on their anniversaries, wished them further success and recalled that «V.V. Putin emphasizes the importance of promoting the Russian language and culture in Central Asia, therefore 2023 has been declared the Year of the Russian Language, which will contribute to the spiritual and cultural mutual enrichment of the peoples of our countries».
During the official part of the event, congratulatory letters were read out from the editor-in-chief of the magazine «Friendship of Peoples» S.A. Nadeeva, from R.M. Osmonov, director of the school-gymnasium № 2 named after. V.P. Chkalova, Naryn, from S.A. Elebesova, head of the department of educational programs of the USOS Bishkek State University. K. It was noted that about 4,000 students were trained in Russian language courses, which have been working at KRSU for more than 20 years, who successfully mastered the Pushkin language thanks to an individual approach and the use of the latest teaching methods. At the round table, the winners of the quiz «Russian Box» were awarded, in which foreign students and students of RKI courses took part. The winners were awarded diplomas and memorable souvenirs.
The round table participants remembered Mikhail Aleksandrovich Rudov –an outstanding literary scholar, poet, translator, teacher and public figure, expressed words of gratitude and appreciation to him, noted that in 2011 he initiated the creation of the magazine «Russian Word in Kyrgyzstan» and its first editor-in-chief. The appearance of the magazine in the media space of Kyrgyzstan has become a significant event not only for workers in education, science, and culture, but also for everyone who cares about the Russian language and who is worried about preserving the Russian-language educational space. As noted in his speech head of the Department of History and Theory of Literature KRSU, Doctor of Philology B.T. Koichuev, «v for four years, Professor M.A. Rudov laid the foundations for the magazine’s activities, was its heart and soul, ideological inspirer and cementing core... Currently, the journal is published by the Institute of Russian Language KRSU, created by the decision of the academic council KRSU dated February 25, 2020 with the aim of promoting the idea of preserving the Russian language as an enduring value, developing bilingualism, as well as educational and methodological support for Russian-language education in the Kyrgyz Republic. The editor-in-chief of the journal is Doctor of Philology, Director of the Institute of Russian Language KRSU M.J. Tagaev.

Each speaker in his speech spoke about the urgent, pressing: issues were raised about providing students of national schools with new modern textbooks on the Russian language (the Russian Federation provides great assistance to schools with the Russian language of instruction in equipping them with textbooks); that education in Russian is necessary, first of all, for Kyrgyz youth, who determine the future of the country, to improve the quality of education in Russian; increasing funding from government grants for the creation of new modern textbooks; on intensifying sociolinguistic research aimed at studying the bilingual situation in the country, etc.
Having identified current issues and discussed problems, the round table participants wished the Institute of Russian Language KRSU and the information and analytical journal «Russian Word in Kyrgyzstan» further fruitful activities in the field of preserving the Russian language, strengthening its position in the region, popularizing Russian culture and supporting the Russian-language educational space.
The employees of the magazine «Russian Word in Kyrgyzstan», members of the editorial board and editorial board, were thanked and presented with letters of gratitude from the administration of KRSU.
