KRSU lawyers successfully performed at the prestigious competition
The team of the Faculty of Law KRSU consisting of Ramila Almazbekova, Zhibek Kydyrova, Elina Salyzhanova, Temirlan Tagaybaev and Danila Tsoi took part in the national rounds (Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan) of the Philip Jessup International Law Competition.
The coach of our team was Nazira Tursunbaeva, Associate Professor of the Department of International and Constitutional Law, Faculty of Law KRSU. Other experienced teachers from the Department of International and Constitutional Law also took an active part in the preparation of our students.
The Philip Jessup International Law Competition – is the largest and most prestigious international law competition for law students. The competition is based on the model of a trial at the International Court of Justice and is held in English. The teams prepare oral and written statements presenting the arguments of the applicant and the defendant in the case. The competition is held by the International Law Students Association (ILSA) around the world. In 2019, more than 700 universities from 100 countries took part in the competition, 140 of which achieved the right to participate in international rounds in Washington (USA).
Our team, having taken part in the qualifying rounds, defeated other teams three times. With three wins in the qualifying rounds out of a possible four, the team advanced to the final stage, receiving the award «RUNNER UP TEAM». Based on the results of the competition, the team coach and participants received an invitation to take part in the International Rounds of the competition.
International round of the F. Jessup Competition «White & Case» – the culmination of the season. Held every spring in Washington, DC, the international rounds «White & Case» – are not only an educational experience, but also a cultural extravaganza. The weekly schedule of events is filled with competitive matches, interesting panel discussions and festive social events. The 2020 International Rounds will be held from April 12 to 18, 2020 in Washington.
The team of the Faculty of Law KRSU is a debutant in the competition and a positive result – this is a great success not only for the faculty, but also for the university. We wish our students further success in conquering the heights of international law.
