Beyond the finish line: the foreign language marathon has ended
On March 17, the final of the university-wide student Olympiad in English was held in the conference hall of the main building of KRSU. Over the course of a month and a half, group and faculty tours selected the best experts in English grammar, geography, history and culture of English-speaking countries, as well as students who speak spoken English.
The Olympiad included 3 nominations: text correction, regional studies and spoken English. Over 20 students studying in 1st and 2nd years took part in the final round.
Before the start of the Olympiad, a draw was held: students chose one of three prepared task options. They had to find 20 errors in the printed text, answer 30 questions on regional studies and talk about 3 proposed topics: «Advertising», «Success» and «Manners».
In the nomination «Correction of the text», the best was a student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology Mirlan Uluu Alinur (EPI-2-20), second place was won by a student of the Faculty of Law Darika Iskakova (U-5-21), third place was taken by a first-year student of the Faculty of Humanities Amina Dzhumagulova (GP-2-21).
In the nomination «Local Studies», the winner was a student of the Faculty of International Relations Rakhat Ulanova (MO-3-20), a student of the Faculty of Medicine Nargiza Seydakmatova (LD-16-21) was on the second step of the podium, the third result was shown by a student of the Faculty of Law Dayana Kulatova (Yu-5-21).
In the nomination «Conversational English», the places were distributed as follows: the victory in a difficult struggle was won by Temirlan Saipiev, a student of the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Construction (ARKH-1-21), second place went to Tatyana Shishenina, a student of the Faculty of International Relations (MZh-2-20), third place was taken by student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology Alexey Lysenkov (EPI-1-21).
In the overall team competition, the victory went to the Faculty of International Relations, faculty of natural sciences and technology won second place, and law students took third place of honor.
The winners were awarded diplomas, all participants – certificates. Jury member Oleg Savelyev presented the participants of the nomination «Conversational English» Temirlan Saipiev and Tatyana Shishenina with books.
