For the «green» economy!

On August 24, the First Youth Conference on Climate Change in Kyrgyzstan – «LCOY Kyrgyzstan 2021» was held in Bishkek, the purpose of which was to increase young people’s knowledge about climate and ecology.

The event was organized by the Public Association «Kyrgyzstan Students for a Green Economy» and initiative student groups of universities in Kyrgyzstan, including the Faculty of Economics of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.

The mission of these student associations is to assist society in solving environmental problems, implementing the Concept «green economy» in Kyrgyzstan, and developing students’ environmental consciousness and respect for nature.

Forum participants, including leading experts in the field of ecology, representatives of youth and environmental organizations, as well as employees and students of Kyrgyz universities, discussed the causes and consequences of the global climate crisis and got acquainted with climate negotiation processes.

During the conference, KRSU students demonstrated their interest in solving environmental problems and developing «green economy» in Kyrgyzstan, making constructive proposals in the final Communiqué, which will be sent to the XVI UN Youth Conference on Climate Change (COY 16).

The event was attended by the dean of the Faculty of Economics of KRSU, Professor Natalya Brovko.
