Interesting histology
At the medical department of KRSU, a round table was held online on the topic: «Current problems of experimental, clinical and fundamental histology», in which teachers and students of the Faculty of Medicine took part. The event was organized by the Department of Histology, Embryology and Cytology.
Student speakers and their mentors discussed interesting scientific topics and the complexities of remote medical education.
A. Saatova, winner of the Olympiad in Anatomy and Histology, held recently at the International University of Kyrgyzstan, shared her experience of remote participation in the competition.
F. Yangalychev presented a report on «How to comprehend histology». He collected extensive material from educational electronic publications (textbooks and atlases) on histology and explained how they can be used to successfully study this discipline.
R. Mamozyarova, N. Nurmukhamedova, E. Iqbal and L. Chelebieva proposed a non-standard approach to the study of histology, embryology and cytology in the form of comics and poetry.
G. Kadyrova, M. Soodalieva and Sh. Murzaeva, using Google forms, successfully conducted a survey and summarized the opinions of KRSU students about their satisfaction with distance teaching methods, and talked about the advantages and disadvantages of online learning identified as a result of the survey.
M. Gabitova, E. Shumaeva and R. Zahra recalled the features of the histological structure of the periodontium, and E. Tashbaev and G. Saipildaeva revealed the current topic of lung histomorphology in COVID-19.
R. Hasanov, A. Zhuravleva and R. Abulganieva studied the effect of soft drinks on the internal organs of animals. The children noted that acquiring the practical skills necessary for a medical student – knowledge of work principles and the use of microscopic and histological equipment, setting goals and objectives, determining the subject and object of research, selecting research methods, planning the progress of research work, analyzing the results obtained – is complicated with distance learning due to the lack of direct guidance from a mentor or teacher.
The round table participants noted that online learning will never replace the real educational process and scientific activities, because practice for medical students is an important stage in developing the skills of a future doctor. Teachers and students agreed that in ordinary «extra-covid» times, distance learning should be considered not instead of, but together with traditional.
