Today, near the walls of the National Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic, a touching ceremony dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory took place. As a sign of memory and respect for the feat of Soviet soldiers, land was brought to the capital from places of heroic glory – from Khatyn, Brest and Volokolamsk. These sacred handfuls of earth became a symbol of the perseverance, courage and immortal feat of the fighters, among whom were thousands of Kyrgyzstanis who fought against Nazism.

The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kyrgyz Republic Sergei Vakunov, acting rector of the KRSU Sergei Volkov, representatives of the country's leadership, military of the National Guard, veterans and youth. To the sounds of a military orchestra and the anthems of the two states, the participants honored the memory of the fallen with a minute of silence.

«This land – is a mute witness of tragedy and greatness. She absorbed blood and tears, but it was on her that our common Victory was forged», – Sergei Vakunov noted in his speech.

Among those gathered were many whose grandfathers and great-grandfathers did not return from the war, but remained in the memory of generations as real heroes.

«We must remember at what cost freedom was won. This day – another reminder that the courage and unity of the peoples of the USSR did not allow evil to triumph», – said the acting. Rector of KRSU Sergei Volkov.
