Over the years of independence, the number of universities in the country has increased from 12 to 64. Last year alone, higher education institutions graduated about 60 thousand specialists. However, the shortage of qualified specialists remains one of the main problems. According to the National Statistics Committee, out of 60% of unemployed youth, only about 14% find work in their specialty. Which gives reason to think about the quality of education, which, according to experts, needs to be improved.
One of the main mechanisms on the way to this – is accreditation. Previously, it was carried out by the structures of the Ministry of Education. Due to the fact that the department itself established the rules and checked it itself, the effect of such an assessment was insufficient. But since 2017, this function has been performed by an independent accreditation agency selected by the national council. With such accreditation, education is assessed by independent experts, whose task is not only to check the quality, but also to develop recommendations in solving existing problems of the educational institution. This past week, the Agency for Accreditation of Educational Programs and Organizations assessed the level of quality of knowledge received by students of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
