Angelina Inyushina. BISHKEK, December 20 – Sputnik. Anes Gurgenovich admits that among the students who «they failed» session, there are those who have been reinstating at the university for several years in a row. Zarifyan claims that he is ready to kiss a man who himself decided to take the documents.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, Sputnik journalists decided to ask its dean Anes Zarifyan why people study to become doctors and about the problems of higher education.
– Tell us the history of the creation of the KRSU Faculty of Medicine.
– Some believe that the KRSU medical department was the first in Kyrgyzstan. In fact, the first medical faculty appeared at Osh State University, and ours a year later.
Before its formation, rector Vladimir Nifadiev went on a business trip to Moscow, where he met with the then head of the state committee of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kinelev. He said: «Listen, you are the first university in the post-Soviet space that is subordinate to two states. If you want to be a European-type university, you must definitely open a medical faculty».
Upon his return, Nifadiev suggested this idea to me. I then held the position of vice-rector at the International University of Kyrgyzstan, where there was no smell of a medical department. And as a person who received a medical education, it was interesting for me to return closer to medicine.
We invited teachers from the Kyrgyz State Institute (now KSMA). Today we have more than 500 people involved in the educational process, 370 of them – on staff: among the teachers there are 41 doctors and 149 candidates of science. In addition, more than 130 people – graduates of our faculty.
The first enrollment of students was carried out in 1994. Then there were only 32 places: Russia allocated 23 budget places, and we took nine more contract places. I even thought: «32 places – it's like the number of teeth. It was necessary to start not with medical practice, but with dentistry». I still remember those guys: they were divided into three small groups, and their studies were almost individual. And recently we recorded a figure of 3 200 students.
