Hormonal imbalances can cause breast cancer – conversation with an oncologist
Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Oncology and Radiation Therapy of KRSU, plastic surgeon Kyyal Makieva spoke about the effect of hormonal disorders on the development of breast cancer.
In the program «Special emphasis» on Sputnik Kyrgyzstan radio, she noted that in Kyrgyzstan every fourth patient with breast cancer – this is a young woman.
«One of the main causes of breast cancer is long-term hormonal imbalances. This cancer is called hormone-dependent, its proportion – about 30-60 percent of all cases of breast cancer detection. The disease develops with elevated estrogen levels or a serious imbalance of sex hormones. Therefore, it is very important to systematically undergo an examination by a mammologist once a year and, if suspicions arise, undergo diagnostics, including hormone tests», – makieva said.
