The head of the All-Russian Education Fund, Sergei Komkov, spoke about this problem: in Russia there are many children of labor migrants from the republic who do not know Russian at all. According to him, to effectively and quickly teach them the great and mighty, teachers equally proficient in both Russian and Kyrgyz languages are required.
Is this so? Your opinion with «RG» olga Sumarokova, Doctor of Historical Sciences, specialist in the field of teaching Russian as a foreign language, Deputy Director of the Institute of Russian Language named after A. Orusbaev KRSU, shared. Here’s what she says:
– The fact that children of labor migrants do not know the Russian language in the context of the reduction of the Russian-speaking space, roughly speaking, to the size of the Chui region and Bishkek, indicates that the Russian language is leaving the country. Over the years of post-Soviet sovereignty of Kyrgyzstan, it is gradually losing the necessary natural habitat, which for a century and a half was formed by traditional institutions of reproduction and culture – russian-speaking families and the system of cultural and educational institutions.
As a result, we received at least three generations of absolutely monolingual Kyrgyzstanis who, perhaps, would like their children to know Russian, but state resources, alas, are not enough to satisfy public demand and create at least an artificial language environment. And the likelihood of recreating the former natural Russian-speaking environment in Kyrgyzstan is little greater than the chances of colonizing the Moon. But if desired, everything is possible.
