Head of the UNESCO Department of KRSU Nadezhda Khan, senior lecturer of the department Zamira Karabaeva and candidate of pedagogical sciences, religious scholar Vladimir Shkolny spoke about the importance of the new subject in schools in Kyrgyzstan.
In grades 7-9 of schools in Kyrgyzstan, regardless of types and forms of ownership, the subject will begin to be taught starting next academic year «History of the development of religions».
On Sputnik Kyrgyzstan radio, Zamira Karabaeva emphasized the importance of introducing a new subject into the school curriculum.
Nadezhda Khan, in turn, expressed fears that the new subject would be taught «one-sidedly», imposing certain religious views on students.
Vladimir Shkolny added that it is impossible to train teachers to teach a new subject in two months.
