The heroes of the Second World War were discussed at a meeting of the Russian military with the vice-rector of the KRSU

Resident of Bishkek, reserve colonel of the Russian Armed Forces, candidate of historical sciences Leonid Sumarokov – a person known both in Kyrgyzstan and in Russia. He was born into a military family. His father served in the city of Kant in the aviation regiment during Soviet times, which was part of the 5th Central Training and Improvement Courses for Aviation Personnel. Leonid Ivanovich spent his childhood here and his life path was determined. And half a century later, it was here that the Russian CSTO Kant aviation base was formed.
From 1978 to 2013, Leonid Sumarokov served in various officer positions in the Armed Forces of the USSR and Russia. He has been working at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University since 2016, and currently holds the position of vice-rector for information and public relations.
For many years, Leonid Ivanovich has been engaged in research activities. His monographs and scientific and journalistic collections – about the events of the Great Patriotic War, the role of the Kyrgyz SSR in providing assistance to the fronts, about public and political figures of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, about the heroes of the Soviet Union and full holders of the Order of Glory.
At the meeting, the author presented documentary and biographical monographs "Chingiz Aitmatov: Man-Universe", "Eurasian Chronicles N.M. Przhevalsky, photo album "Unity that defeated fascism" and other works.".
His scientific and journalistic collections "Ascension to Feat", "One Fate – One Road" and other books about the Great Patriotic War contain eyewitness memories of the reception of industrial enterprises evacuated to the Kyrgyz SSR, the work of military hospitals where front-line soldiers were treated, and other materials.
Leonid Ivanovich told military personnel, members of the Youth Army of the "New Generation" detachment and other schoolchildren about how his books were created, about the scientific work of the KRSU on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, about the heroes of the Soviet Union – graduates of the Odessa Pilot School, the successor of which became the aviation regiment in Kant during the USSR and the Russian airbase.
In the near future, Sumarokov’s new book "Deputies Go to Battle" will be published - about 53 deputies of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR of the first convocation – participants of the Second World War, of which 20 elected representatives of the people died, 17 went missing and only 16 returned from the war.
As Leonid Sumarokov noted at the meeting, the Soviet people won, first of all, thanks to the unity and cohesion of all the peoples of the Soviet Union. He also emphasized that it is very important to preserve the memory of the feat of grandfathers and great-grandfathers who liberated the world from fascism.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the heroic feat of the Kyrgyz pilot Ismaibek Taranchiev and the Russian shooter Alexei Tkachev, who repeated the feat of Gastello – sent the attack aircraft shot down by the Nazis in March 1944 near Narva into a column of enemy military equipment. By the way, one of the SU-25 attack aircraft at the CSTO Kant air base was named after Hero of the Soviet Union Ismailbek Taranchiev.
