A conference dedicated to the Battle of Moscow in 1941 was held in Kyrgyzstan.
The heroism of Soviet soldiers near Moscow and the feat of Panfilov’s heroes will forever remain in the memory of the Kyrgyz people. The participants of the international scientific and practical conference held in Bishkek came to this unequivocal conclusion.
The conference was dedicated to the famous division of Major General Ivan Panfilov, formed from residents of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Thanks to her and the heroism of other Soviet units, the Red Army managed to repel the attack of Nazi troops on the capital of the USSR, and then push them back from Moscow.
Candidate of Historical Sciences, Vice-Rector of the KRSU for Information and Public Relations Leonid Sumarokov noted that many residents of the republic who participated in battles with the fascist invaders showed heroism and dedication. He recalled that even deputies of the Supreme Council of Kyrgyzstan went to the front. «54 people's representatives took part in the Great Patriotic War, and only seventeen reached the victorious day», – he emphasized.
