The pedestal is damaged — KRSU asks patrons to restore the monument to Panfilov
BISHKEK, March 12 — Sputnik. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University is initiating the restoration of the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General Ivan Panfilov, the university’s press service reported.
The monument was erected in 1972 in the village of Panfilovsky, Chui region, at the expense of local residents. Over the past decades, it has fallen into disrepair. During the inspection, it turned out that the pedestal was scribbled and damaged, its cladding was crumbling, and there was no information sign on the monument itself. Granite slabs are broken, the foundation is washed away by groundwater and destroyed.
