«Rossiyskaya Gazeta» wrote about the international strategic session of the project «The Turkic World of Greater Altai: Unity and Diversity in History and Modernity», which took place on March 23 at Altai State University. The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and within the framework of the program «Priority 2030», with the participation of six Russian and four foreign universities in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

 

For the first time, we gathered the chairmen of dissertation councils of ten universities on one site Altai, Gorno-Altai, Kemerovo, Omsk, Tuva, Khakass State Universities, as well as the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after. B.N. Yeltsin and universities of Kazakhstan Eurasian National University named after. L. Gumilyov, Kazakh National University named after. Al-Farabi, Alikhan Bokeikhan University, noted by the moderator of the session, director of the Institute of Humanities of Altai State University, Professor Larisa Nekhvyadovich. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of training scientific personnel in the Russian regions of Greater Altai and in universities in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, including the possibility of defending dissertations with the award of a PhD degree.

 

If in Kazakhstan the system of awarding the PhD degree has been operating since 2010, then in Kyrgyzstan, according to the chairman of the dissertation council of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. B.N. Yeltsin Ravil Muksinov, the classical system of the Higher Attestation Commission is still in effect. The result of the discussion was the creation of a coordinating council of Russian and foreign universities to ensure interaction between dissertation councils in the humanities of universities in Greater Altai.
