According to the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, more than 20 thousand students study outside the country. The vast majority of them chose Russia for higher education. For the 2024/2025 academic year, the Kyrgyz Republic received 700 quota places from the Russian government for studying at Russian universities. In total, about 14 thousand students from Kyrgyzstan study in Russia.
