The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU) celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. This could be the most standard anniversary – with a festive concert, honoring outstanding teachers and rosy reports on the work done. But everything did not go according to the traditional plan.
The usual scenario was disrupted by the CIS summit being held these days in Bishkek, during which Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov also flew to the capital of Kyrgyzstan. In addition to the meeting with his Kyrgyz colleague, the new head of the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, the guest from Moscow also visited the KRSU, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
KRSU Rector Denis Fomin-Nilov, opening the event, recalled that there are only four Slavic universities in the CIS – in Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Belarus and Tajikistan. But it was Kyrgyz-Russian that opened first.
– This is a unique management model, when two states participate in the creation, financing and setting of tasks – fomin-nilov states. – And taking into account all these aspects, the university must be clearly aware of its vector of movement. Moreover, we are not just talking about a higher educational institution. In our case – this is an intellectual corporation. We do science here, generate new ideas and create technologies, which is why today among our guests – business representatives. We must offer the business community solutions to the problems facing it. Business, in turn, must respond to our requests as employers. After all, we are training personnel for the real sector of the economy.
