The Russian language is of strategic importance in Kyrgyzstan, says Sergei Volkov, rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU). According to him, language is a means of interethnic communication and is necessary for integration into the Eurasian space, he reports Sputnik. The Russian language is an independent subject of language policy that influences sociocultural and educational processes, the rector said.

The head of the university spoke about this during a speech at the plenary session of the forum «Bilingual education today: global challenges and effective practices», which opened in Bishkek on Friday, September 26. Next
