The status of the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan – is one of the most politicized topics, raised every time a political crisis brews in the country and another program for searching for national identity is launched. It was not possible to ignore it in the past year, declared the Cross Year of Russia and Kyrgyzstan: the change of political power and the preparation of the eleventh constitutional reform in 29 years of the republic’s sovereignty again brought to the fore the issue of depriving the Russian language of official status.
The topic was closed, but no one doubts that it will be raised more than once, given the explosive potential of the issue.
On December 15, more than 70 participants of the scientific and practical conference «Russian language in Kyrgyzstan: past, present, future», organized by the Institute of Russian Language of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the first President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin.
