Russian language in Kyrgyzstan: past, present, future

On December 15, 2020, the Institute of Russian Language of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after. B.N. Yeltsin (IRYA KRSU) held an online scientific and practical conference «Russian language in Kyrgyzstan: past, present, future».

 

Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kyrgyz Republic N.N. took an active part in the conference. Udovichenko, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Kyrgyzstan V.L. Nefedov, Vice-Rector for Science of the State Institute of Russian Language named after. A.S. Pushkin Professor M.A. Osadchy, public figures and prominent scientists of Kyrgyzstan, teachers of the Russian language and students of higher educational institutions of the country.

 

The conference was moderated by the KRSU Vice-Rector for Information and Public Relations L.I. Sumarokov. Opening the conference, he outlined current issues of the functioning of the Russian language in the Kyrgyz Republic, which the participants had to discuss: the role of the Russian language in the formation and expansion of the scientific and educational space, in the formation and strengthening of the cultural, educational and socio-economic spheres of the republic; Russian language as a communicative means that ensures integration, socio-economic, trade ties with Russia and the EAEU countries; ways to preserve and strengthen the cultural and linguistic space in Russian; kyrgyz-russian bilingualism as a traditional means of introducing individuals to their native culture and to the global information space and new technologies.
