People's Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic Vyacheslav Shapovalov died at the age of 75. Colleagues call him «one of the best popularizers of Kyrgyzstan abroad». It’s hard to argue with this, he did so much for his native country.
Shapovalov was an Honored Cultural Worker, laureate of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Prize, professor, doctor of philological sciences. He translated the works of Turkic-speaking writers, and was himself the author of 12 collections of poems and poems. In recent years he worked at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
