A conference on the role of the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan is taking place in Bishkek
According to the study, the demand for education in Russian-language schools remains high – more than 70 percent of respondents want their children to study in Russian.
BISHKEK, December 15 – Sputnik. A conference is being held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University «Russian language in Kyrgyzstan: past, present, future».
It is attended by the Russian Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Nikolai Udovichenko, the rector of the KRSU Vladimir Nifadiev, the Chairman of the Assembly of Peoples of Kyrgyzstan Abdygany Erkebaev, the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the Kyrgyz Republic Viktor Nefedov, the deputy of the residential complex Dastan Bekeshev, the writer Mar Baidzhiev, as well as philologists, university teachers, public figures and others. In addition, representatives of the State Institute of Russian Language named after A. S. Pushkin (Moscow) and teachers from regional universities of Kyrgyzstan participate in the conference via video link.
