An exhibition dedicated to Kyrgyzstanis — participants of the Great Patriotic War opened in Bishkek. The event is dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the Great Victory and the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the Second World War, Kyrgyz border guards showed courage and perseverance while fighting the Nazis.
Today, 21 border outposts in the Kyrgyz Republic bear the names of heroes who ensured the country’s security over the years. Five more border posts are named in memory of participants in the Great Patriotic War.
The exhibition "They covered their lives with themselves" at the National Historical Museum was created on the basis of a study of documentary materials from the archives of Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The exhibition also presents front-line relics. The study was conducted by KRSU employee, candidate of historical sciences Leonid Sumarokov.
