Press service of the Central Military District – Military personnel of the Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan met with the vice-rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU) Leonid Sumarokov. On the eve of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the base command invited the scientist to present to military personnel, members of their families and Youth Army members his scientific work dedicated to the events of that terrible time.
The author told the Russian military about the stages of research work carried out by the university on the role of the Kyrgyz USSR in providing assistance to the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, public and political figures who became heroes of the Soviet Union and full holders of the Order «of Glory».
Eyewitness memories and officially registered facts about the reception of evacuated industrial enterprises, their employees and members of their families, military hospitals for the treatment of Soviet soldiers and officers on the territory of Soviet Kyrgyzstan during the war were reflected on the pages of his scientific work. During the meeting, the heroic feat of attack pilot Ismailbek Taranchiev, whose name is borne by one of the Su-25 aircraft of the Russian military base, was separately touched upon.
At the end of the meeting, the scientist thanked those gathered for their attention and answered the audience’s questions, promising to donate one of the first copies of his work to the museum of the military unit when it is completed.
