Volunteers learned (and taught others) to save drowning people in Issyk-Kul

27 augusta 2021

At the end of August, volunteers of the project «+100 to life», implemented within the framework of the social investment program «Hometowns» of the company «Gazprom Neft» together with the Department of Emergency Protection and the STCU «Civil Protection Development» of the KRSU and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, went to the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul to conduct exercises to save a drowning man.

The first location was the village of Ton. The emergency department of the Ton region of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Issyk-Kul region was involved in rescue operations. Everyone who was on the beach plunged into a lesson on teaching techniques for rescuing people on reservoirs. Rescuers demonstrated methods of rescue on water in various situations that are as close as possible to real conditions, and the role of a drowning person was played by a project volunteer – a 13-year-old boy. No one was injured during the exercise.

Rescuers explained that when a drowning person is still able to accept help, special rescue means are used that can be grabbed on one’s own. It is more difficult to save a person who is in a state of panic or has already lost consciousness. In such cases, rescuers must swim extremely quickly and carefully on a rescue boat or boat as close as possible to the drowning person in order to lift him on board and prevent the person being rescued from diving under the ship.

When lifting a victim onto a boat or boat, rescuers must act clearly and harmoniously in order to get a person out of the water as soon as possible, provide him with first aid and deliver him to shore.

All those present were shown methods of providing first aid to a person who was rescued from the water, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation using improvised means and special devices.
