Yeltsin in partnership with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. Patrice Lumumba (RUDN, Moscow) from May 4 to May 27, 2023, he announces an essay competition dedicated to International Russian Language Day.
The competition is being implemented as part of events dedicated to the Year of the Russian Language in the CIS countries (2023).
Established in 2010 by the United Nations, Russian Language Day is celebrated annually on June 6 – the birthday of the founder of the Russian literary language, classic of Russian literature Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. This year the world cultural community celebrates the 224th anniversary of the birth of the great poet. In Kyrgyzstan, Pushkin’s works are widely known and are included in educational courses at schools and universities.
Any language — is a window to the world. In our lives, it is the Russian language that helps us acquire new knowledge and expand contacts. The language, in particular Russian, is reflected and improved in literature. Writers teach how to use words competently and appropriately. New words are quickly reflected in the genre of journalism. And classical literature –for example, the works of A. Pushkin – helps to hear «the music of» Russian speech, which contributes to thinking and understanding the world in new ways.
Contestants are offered the following (optional) topics:
- Russian language – is a language into a world of possibilities.
- Russian language in my life and in the history of my country.
Students of grades 5-9 of secondary schools with Kyrgyz, Uzbek, and Russian languages of instruction in the Kyrgyz Republic are invited to participate in the competition.
Essay length – 1.5 to 3 pages of text typed on a computer.
Essay design requirements: Times New Roman font, pin 14, spacing 1.5; margin width – 2 cm (on four sides); text aligned to page width; pages numbered. The title page indicates the topic of the essay, last name, first name of the participant, educational institution, class.
Works completed in the Word program are accepted for the competition only in electronic format.
Evaluation criteria: ability to independently reason, express thoughts, argue one’s position; present it logically; master the norms of the Russian literary language; take a creative approach to completing the task.
Each participant fills out questionnaire and sends it along with the competition entry to the email address: center_russ@mail.ru until May 27, 2023.
Works sent without a questionnaire are not considered. We kindly ask you to submit the essay as soon as you are ready, without waiting for the deadline.
The winners of the competition will be invited to Moscow under the summer school program.
The award ceremony for the winners will take place on June 6, 2023.
