Essay competition «Tell the world about your homeland»

Institute of Russian Language KRSU named after. The first President of the Russian Federation B. Yeltsin invites foreign citizens to participate in a creative essay competition «Tell the world about your Motherland».

The goals of the competition are – stimulating interest in learning the Russian language among foreign citizens, strengthening interethnic friendship and cooperation.

To participate in the competition, you are invited to write an essay in Russian dedicated to your native country and culture. In their work, contestants must vividly and figuratively talk about their country: about nature, way of life, about the moral ideals, spiritual values of the people. You can include a description of attractions, cultural monuments, architecture, national holidays, cuisine, traditions, and also pay attention to significant events in the history of your country. An interesting story will be about why you yourself love your Motherland and why residents of other countries can love it.

Requirements for applications to participate in the competition:

1. To complete the application, you must send it by mail troshchenko.lara@list.ru two documents: completed questionnaire with information about the author and the text of the essay.
2. The essay must be presented in MS Word (A-4 format), font – Times New Roman, font size – 12pp, line spacing – 1.5, fields: top – 2.5, bottom –1.5, left – 2.5, right –1.5.
3. Text volume – at least 2000 characters (1 page) and no more than 4000 (2 pages) characters with spaces.
4.  Only original works of authorship are accepted. Previously published works or works created in collaboration are not allowed to participate in the competition. If plagiarism is detected, the work will be withdrawn from the competition.

Essay evaluation criteria

1. Degree of topic disclosure.
2. Justification of the author's position.
3. Stylistic originality.
4. Compositional unity, coherence and consistency of presentation.
5. Literacy (no spelling, punctuation, stylistic or factual errors).
6. Compliance with technical requirements for work design.

Procedure and timing of the competition

Applications are accepted by email troshchenko.lara@list.ru

from 23 January to 20 February 2023 inclusive.

The results of the competition will be announced on February 27, 2023. The winners will be awarded certificates and memorable gifts.
