14 september 2021

On September 20-26, 2021, the Department of History and Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Humanities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, with the support of the IFGS, is holding the International Summer School «Archaeological Monuments as a Cultural Phenomenon in Issyk-Kul. New formats for museums to present archaeological heritage».

The uniqueness of the Issyk-Kul region as a site for holding a school lies, first of all, in the continuous representativeness of archaeological monuments, revealing the processes of formation of a nomadic civilization, its contacts with the sedentary cultures of the region, and the history of cross-cultural communications.

In the context of the problem of preserving and presenting historical and cultural heritage, the most difficult issue is the preservation of archaeological monuments, since they are subject to both natural and anthropogenic factors of destruction. Various specialists will take part in the work of the summer school: archaeologists, geologists, ethnologists, museum experts, art historians, cultural experts representing the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Institute of Archeology named after A.Kh. Margulana, Saryarka Archaeological Institute of Karaganda University, Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, State Historical Museum (Moscow), Russian Ethnographic Museum, Museum-Reserves of Kazakhstan (Ulytau and Bozok), Museum-Reserve «Tomsk Pisanitsa», Kiev-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve, Park «Zaryadye» (Moscow), Nomadic Culture Center named after.
