Youth educational festival dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of F.M. Dostoevsky

From September 22 to December 10, 2021, the Institute of Russian Language of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the first President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin is holding a youth educational festival dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding master of Russian prose, classic of world literature – Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821–1881).  

The goals of the educational festival are: attracting the attention of students of Kyrgyzstan to the literary heritage of the writer, cultivating interest in Russian literature, supporting children's and youth creativity.

Students of middle and high schools with Russian, Kyrgyz, Uzbek languages of instruction, college and university students are invited to participate in the festival events.

The widely celebrated 200th anniversary of the great writer this year unites Kyrgyzstanis with the world cultural community, which pays tribute to the genius of Russian prose, who won the hearts of people from different countries with the power of his amazing talent – to awaken moral feelings in every person and bear responsibility for the fate of humanity. Philosopher N.A. Berdyaev called Dostoevsky's work «Russia's greatest contribution to the spiritual life of the whole world». «Love Dostoevsky, read Dostoevsky», – called on the poet and critic I.F. Annensky.  «In today's world... – emphasized by Ch.T. Aitmatov, noting the acute relevance of the writer’s works, –the alarming alarm of Dostoevsky hums, incessantly appealing to humanity and humanism».

ABOUT F.M. Dostoevsky wrote a huge number of monographs, studies, and literary critical articles. His stories and novels have gone through a record number of translations and film adaptations; in Kyrgyzstan, the writer’s works have been published in the Kyrgyz language. One of the streets of Bishkek is named after Dostoevsky. The immortal works of the classic continue to excite the hearts of readers, encouraging them to look for answers to the eternal questions of life. «...The writer, artist, thinker lives in his works», – his contemporary poet A.N. wrote about Dostoevsky. Maykov in 1881. And he continues to live! – we will add today.

PROCEDURE FOR HOLDING COMPETITIONS

Literary quiz «F.M. Dostoevsky: life and work» (October 20)

The content of the quiz tasks includes questions within the scope of the school curriculum (biography of F.M. Dostoevsky, novel «Crime and Punishment»), as well as creative tasks.
The school is represented NO MORE THAN FIVE participants.

Participation in the quiz is personal. To register, the completed application must be sent to an email address center_russ@mail.ru until October 18.

The subject line should include: <TAG1> Quiz«.

Quiz date: October 20. Time: 15.00–16.30.

The quiz is conducted remotely. On October 20 at 15.00, quiz tasks will be sent to the email addresses of registered participants, which are performed electronically

format in Word text editor.  

Work with completed tasks is sent for verification on October 20 no later than 16:30. to the email address center_russ@mail.ru

The winners of the quiz are awarded diplomas and valuable prizes. All participants receive electronic certificates.

Essay competition «I open Dostoevsky» (September 22 – November 22)

The contestants cover in the essay the topics and aspects of F.M.’s work that interest them. Dostoevsky, show the relevance of the writer’s ideas, the significance of moral philosophy, and the value of the humanistic orientation of his works. The essay can independently comment on individual works, fragments of literary and journalistic works, and aphorisms of F.M. Dostoevsky, the author's positions of literary scholars and literary critics, indicate the role of the writer in Russian, Kyrgyz and world literature. The title of the essay may be the author's.

Evaluation criteria:

  • knowledge of the works of F.M. Dostoevsky – 20 points;
  • ability to argue your own position on the topic under consideration – 20 points;
  • ability to analyze literary texts, historical and cultural information – 10 points;
  • consistent, coherent presentation of thoughts – 20 points;
  • proficiency in Russian literary language standards – 20 points;
  • creative approach to completing the task – 10 points.

Total: 100 points.
Essay length – 2–5 pages.  

Essay design requirements: Times New Roman font, pin 14, spacing 1.5; margin width – 2 cm (all sides); alignment of text along the width of the page; page numbering. The title page indicates: title of the essay, last name, first name of the participant, educational institution, class (course).

The competition accepts works made on a computer in the Word program only in electronic format.

Participants guarantee the submission of original work to the competition. If plagiarism is detected, the participant is excluded from the list of contestants.

Each participant fills out a questionnaire.

The essay and completed application form are sent by November 22 to the email address center_russ@mail.ru

The subject line must include: «Essay Contest».

The winners of the competition are awarded diplomas and valuable prizes. All participants receive electronic certificates.

The best creative works will be published in the newspaper «Student Review» KRSU.

Book trailer competition «Calling for humanity»: by pages of works by F.M. Dostoevsky (September 22 – November 22)

Book trailer – a short video based on the work of F.M. he read and loved. Dostoevsky, a kind of annotation of the book in video format. Creative work is performed in the genre of short video, video, slideshow. Expressive reading, independent analysis of what you read, and selection of interesting biographical facts are welcome.   

Evaluation criteria:

 

  • information content, completeness of topic disclosure – 20 points;
  • originality of content and form of work – 10 points;
  • the ability to briefly and succinctly express a thought, give it a journalistic flavor – 20 points;
  • proficiency in Russian literary language standards – 20 points;
  • design aesthetics, design – 10 points;
  • organic combination of video, sound and book content – 10 points;
  • emotional impact – 10 points.

Total: 100 points.
Book trailer duration – up to 3 minutes. Video recording format – MP4.

A mandatory requirement for creating a book trailer is to mention the author and title of the book.

Participation in the PERSONAL competition.

The book trailer and completed application form are sent by November 22 to the email address center_russ@mail.ru  

In the subject line of the letter you must indicate: «Book trailer competition».

Participants guarantee the submission of original work to the competition. If plagiarism is detected, the work is not considered.

The winners of the competition are awarded diplomas and valuable prizes. All participants receive electronic certificates.

The best creative works will be posted on the Facebook page of the Institute of Russian Language of KRSU.

Drawing competition «St. Petersburg – northern capital of Russia» (September 22 – November 22)

Founded in 1703 by Tsar Peter I, St. Petersburg is rightfully considered the northern capital of Russia, a city-museum, in the unique cultural space of which East and West, various styles of architecture and art are harmoniously combined. Throughout the 19th century, St. Petersburg was also the literary capital, where A.S. lived and worked. Pushkin, A.S. Griboyedov, M.Yu. Lermontov, N.V. Gogol, F.M. Dostoevsky, I.S. Turgenev, N.A. Nekrasov and many other famous writers and poets. An important milestone in the history of St. Petersburg was the years of the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945), when the hero city overcame the terrible days of hunger and complete blockade with fortitude and unbreakable courage. St. Petersburg – is the pride and glory of Russia, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, whose history is connected with the name of F.M. Dostoevsky.

Creative works on one of the listed topics are accepted to participate in the competition:

  • St. Petersburg and «golden age» of Russian literature (illustrations for the works of F.M. Dostoevsky, works of Russian writers that mention St. Petersburg);
  • St. Petersburg landscapes (architectural ensembles, bridges, parks, etc.);
  • Historical and cultural monuments of St. Petersburg.
  • Criteria for evaluating drawings:
  • matching the competition theme;
  • originality of the concept;
  • artistic excellence (technique and quality of work);
  • compliance of the creative level with the age of the author.

The drawings are made using the following techniques: colored pencils, watercolor, gouache, mixed media. Each participant submits 1 A3 work to the competition.

Three age categories are participating in the competition: students in grades 5–7; students in grades 8–9; students in grades 10–11 of secondary schools.

The drawing must be done independently using any drawing technique, but without the use of computer technology. REDRAWING and copying of existing works IS NOT ALLOWED.  

The completed application for participation in the competition in printed form is attached to the drawing. In addition, the completed application in electronic format must be sent to an email address center_russ@mail.ru

The subject line should include: «Drawing competition».

Drawings for the competition must be sent by November 22 by mail to the address: 720000, Bishkek, st. Kyiv, 44, KRSU. Drawing competition «St. Petersburg – northern capital of Russia». Also, works can be transferred to the Russian Language Institute (g. Bishkek, pr. Chui, 44; leave on watch; Mon. – stains; 9.00 – 17.00).

Drawings provided without a completed questionnaire are not accepted for participation in the competition.

The winners of the competition are awarded diplomas and valuable prizes. The best creative works will be presented at an exhibition at KRSU.

All participants receive electronic certificates.

In December, based on the results of the festival, as well as all competitions and promotions in 2021, three schools that have shown the greatest activity in the educational programs of the Russian Language Institute will be identified. The winners will receive prizes – sets of visual teaching aids for decorating Russian language and literature classrooms.
