Presentation of the monograph «E.D. Polivanov. Unfinished linguistic symphony»

4 february 2022

On February 11, 2022, at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the first President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin there will be a presentation of the documentary-biographical monograph by L.I. Sumarokova and O.L. Sumarokova «E.D. Polivanov. An unfinished linguistic symphony».

The publication, based on documentary materials, is part of the author's book series «Eurasian Creators». The first books in it were monographs by Leonid and Olga Sumarokov «Chingiz Aitmatov. Man-Universe», «Eurasian Chronicles N.M. Przhevalsky», «K.K. Yudakhin. Uniting Central Asia with a word».

In the documentary-biographical monograph «E.D. Polivanov. Unfinished Linguistic Symphony» scientists reveal the multifaceted activities of Russian and Soviet linguist, orientalist and literary critic Evgeniy Dmitrievich Polivanov. Its theoretical part is illustrated with images of documents that are published for the first time.

The book is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of this outstanding scientist, who combined the brilliant talent of a researcher, the extraordinary abilities of a polyglot and deep knowledge of the field of language theory. The monograph reveals the incomplete phenomenon of a person who combines service to science, society and the state. The last aspect distinguishes the new scientific work from previously published works about Evgeny Polivanov.

The presentation will be attended by scientists, public figures, writers, graduate students and students of Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

The event, which will begin at 13.00 (Bishkek time), will be held online. You can join it by notifying your intention by email: sumarokov@krsu.edu.kg.
