From October 24 to 25, 2023, under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Russia in the 21st Century: The Great Patriotic War and Historical Memory will be held. The decisive summer battles of 1943 on the fronts and in the rear of the Nazi troops in the assessments of Soviet and German military leaders and historians», during which there will be a scientific discussion of the arguments put forward by Western scientific schools and politicians for the anti-scientific statements of the history of the Battle of Kursk, belittling the role of the victory in it USSR, as a turning point in World War II.
The organizing committee of the conference provides for discussing current historiographical problems, as well as developing scientific and practical recommendations for further scientific research and their use in the historical education of youth, including in the following areas:
– the military-political and strategic consequences of the defeat of Nazi Germany near Kursk in 1943, the reasons and methods of its distortion in modern public opinion and in Western history textbooks;
– historical, psychological and political aspects of rejection of the decisive role of the Soviet peoples in the Second World War and the deliberate distortion of its history and results;
– civilizational aspects of the history of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War and the reasons for their different perceptions in the post-Soviet space;
– conceptual and substantive content of the history of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War in modern textbooks in domestic and foreign education, as well as in the post-Soviet space as a subject of scientific research and discussion;
– the responsibility of scientists to future generations of young people to form in them a modern scientific picture of the world, historical memory and respect for older generations.
Conference participants – scientists and employees of scientific institutions and scientific and educational organizations; doctoral students, graduate students and undergraduates; teachers of educational institutions; students of universities, colleges and lyceums, high school students of secondary schools (including 100 basic schools of the Russian Academy of Sciences), as well as foreign countries.
Scientists and students of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B. Yeltsin will take part in the conference.
