Water Day at FAdiS

The famous French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said: «Water, you have neither taste nor smell, you cannot be described, you are enjoyed without knowing what you are?»

March 22 has been declared International Water Day by the UN General Assembly. And this day is celebrated because water increasingly requires protection. Is there so much water on our planet, is there enough for everyone? It is to these questions about the importance of water for human life that we dedicated our WATER DAY at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Construction.

Students of the KIOVR profile, together with teachers of the department, prepared and conducted a quiz with questions and tests about the composition of drinking water, artesian and river water. We have prepared prizes for all team compositions.

The holiday was held on the eve of the official date – March 16 in the assembly hall of the ADiS faculty. The participants were six teams of students from graduating departments: KIOVR, architects, builders, Emergency Situations Department, KhPK, DAS. But each of the teams performed under its own nickname: Cacti, Droplets, Beavers-builders, Devils H2O, Poseidon, Aqua team.

Before the start of the intellectual battle, we watched a motivating video about the importance of water conservation, in particular about the importance of water for the territory of Kyrgyzstan and the countries of Central Asia. Guest from the Institute of Water Problems and Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic Sergey Aleksandrovich Erokhin presented a presentation and spoke about the hydrogeological factors in the formation of dangerous exogenous geological processes on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Associate Professor of our department Nadezhda Vasilievna Yakovleva demonstrated her experience with water. She told us in what ways it is possible to determine the composition of water, and why it is so important to instill in the population of Kyrgyzstan a culture of respect for water: teach them not to throw garbage into ditches and river beds from an early age – since this is a real crime against nature. The guest at our holiday was a representative of the press service, Irina (thanks to her for the photographs of our holiday) from the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, an organization where our graduates – KIOVR can go to work.

Charged with new knowledge, the teams "took" the questions in the quiz on the fly. The fans were very active. The explosion of emotions from the fans drowned out the teams' answers. They responded so actively that two teams came out on top: «Poseidon» and «Aqua team». But nevertheless, the participants of all teams received prizes prepared by the teachers of our department. The most active of the fans was not left without a prize.

And it is unlikely that the photographs that we post here were able to reflect the excitement of youth, the desire to win, and not just win, but show our intellectual knowledge about water, which our FADIS students demonstrated.
