International student programming competitions

Students of the IVT department have been successfully participating in national and international Olympiads in computer science and programming for many years.
Since 1996 Teams of department students annually take part in programming competitions ACM ICPC, when was organized North-East European Region. They have participated in the quarter and semi-finals of the championship many times, constantly increasing their ratings. Successfully competed with teams from universities in the Siberian subregion of NEERC.

In 2004, the KRSU team (consisting of students A. Mokhov, U. Degenbaev, A. Alekseev) made a breakthrough in the participation of Kyrgyz students in the championship - they took second place in the Siberian subregion of NEERC and 13th place in NEERC. As a result, this team was the first of the teams from Central Asian universities to win the right to participate in the ACM ICPC finals (Prague, 2004), where it took 15th place among 75 world finalists, ahead of many teams from leading universities in Russia, Europe, the USA and other countries.

In 2004, the Organizing Committee of the North-Eastern European Region of the Student World Team Programming Championship organized a separate Kyrgyz quarterfinal group of the competition, the organizer of which was determined by KRSU, and specifically, the IVT department. To conduct quarterfinal competitions in Kyrgyzstan via the Internet, the department has created an original automated one software system, holding competitions according to ACM ICPC rules. On its basis, the Kyrgyz quarterfinals of 2005-2010 were successfully held. In addition, this system, active around the clock, also hosts other types of programming competitions.

In October 2014, the in-person round of the Kyrgyz quarterfinals of the student programming Olympiad was held for the first time. The event was given Republican status.

In 2020, the KRSU team received 3rd degree diplomas for participating in the semi-finals of the ACM ICPC rules competition in Barnaul.
