The Medical Faculty of KRSU was opened on June 15, 1994 in agreement with the State University of Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The mission of the Faculty of Medicine is to prepare doctors capable of both working in primary health care and for further postgraduate medical education, combining high general professional training with a broad general cultural outlook, computer literacy, knowledge and interpersonal skills that are given in the university environment.
Specialists are trained taking into account the needs of the healthcare sectors of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, and their reform strategies. In the teaching process, the achievements of modern medical science are taken into account and used, as well as information about advanced achievements in practical healthcare not only in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation, but also on a more global scale.
The faculty graduates doctors with basic university education in the following specialties:
- Medical treatment
- Paediatrics
- Dentistry
Graduates receive two medical diplomas: Russian and Kyrgyz. After graduation, all of them continue their postgraduate studies in residency, and some in graduate school in Russian educational programs.
In 2024, the 25th graduation of general practitioners took place, the 16th – pediatricians and dentists; the 23rd – clinical residents who received the appropriate certificates and certificates for the right to work in their chosen field of medicine. In total, during the period of the faculty’s activity, 2,596 general practitioners, 1,020 pediatricians and 1,888 dentists were trained. Most of them work in Kyrgyzstan. But many were able to enroll and successfully complete their residency or graduate studies at leading medical universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and other Russian cities. Some are now practicing in the USA, Germany, Israel, India, Pakistan, and China.
Students of the faculty actively participate in scientific and practical events of various significance.
The student body is multi-national. In addition to Kyrgyzstanis, among the students are citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
