According to the Civil Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, part II, section V of Art. 1047

Copyright extends to works of science, literature and art that are the result of creative activity, regardless of purpose and merit, as well as the way they are expressed.

2. The work must be expressed orally, in writing or in any other objective form that allows for the possibility of its perception.

3. Copyright applies to both published and unpublished works.

4. Copyright does not apply to ideas, procedures, methods, concepts, principles, systems, proposed solutions, discoveries of objectively existing phenomena.

The objects of copyright protected by the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic «On Copyright and Related Rights» dated January 14, 1996 № 6 include:

• literary works (literary-artistic, scientific, educational, journalistic, etc.);
• dramatic and scripted works;
• musical works with or without text;
• musical and dramatic works;
• choreographic works and pantomimes;
• audiovisual works (film, television and video films, slideshots and other film, television and video works), radio works;
• works of painting, sculpture, graphics, design and other works of fine art;
• works of decorative, applied and scenographic art;
• works of architecture, urban planning and landscape art;
• photographic works and works obtained by a method similar to photography;
• geographical, geological and other maps, plans, sketches and works relating to geography, topography and other sciences;
• programs for electronic computers (computers) of all types, including application programs and operating systems.

A computer program protected by the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic «On Copyright and Related Rights» dated January 14, 1996 № 6, is an objective form of presenting a set of data and commands intended for the operation of electronic computers (computers) in order to obtain a certain result.

Database — an objective form of presenting and organizing a set of data systematized in such a way that this data can be found and processed using a computer.

Computer programs and databases are copyrighted. Computer programs are provided with legal protection as works of literature, and databases — as collections.

Copyright applies to any computer programs and databases, both released and unreleased, presented in an objective form, regardless of their material medium, purpose and dignity.

Copyright applies to computer programs and databases that are the result of the author's creative activity.

Copyright in computer programs and databases is not related to the ownership of their material media. Any transfer of rights to a tangible medium does not entail the transfer of any rights to computer programs or databases.

The rights to industrial property of the Civil Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, Part II, Section V of Art. 1088 includes the right to an invention, utility model, industrial design, protected subject to the issuance of a patent.

As an invention Law of the Kyrgyz Republic «Patent Law» dated March 23, 2023 № 69 protects a technical solution in any field related to a product (in particular a device, substance, strain of a microorganism, plant and animal cell culture) or method (the process of carrying out actions on a material object using material means), including the use of a product or method for its new purpose.
