A brief history of the department

The Department of "Traffic Organization and Safety" was opened at the Kyrgyz–Russian Slavic University in 2002 and in 2014 was renamed the Department of "Road Transport". The department trains bachelors in the following areas:

  • "Technology of transport processes" according to the profile "Logistics in transport",
  • "Operation of transport and technological machines and complexes" according to the profile "Automotive service".

The Department of Road Transport is a dynamically developing division of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology. The department includes specialized laboratories that conduct classes using new computer technologies, various diagnostic equipment for motor vehicles using real cars, a car simulator - a driver training testing complex, and various visual materials.

Students undergo practical training at enterprises and organizations in various branches of road transport, including: at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic, in transport and logistics companies, in insurance companies, in branded auto centers, in private car services, in children's centers.

The department actively attracts students to participate in the study of the environmental situation, freight and passenger flows in the city of Bishkek, as well as in other large cities  Kyrgyz Republic.

Brief history of the department

  • When the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was created in 1993, the Department of Natural Engineering Disciplines (ETD) was opened. One of the educational areas of the department is “Computer Science and Computer Science”. Organizer and head of the ETD department, head of the department and first head of the IVT – Professor G.A. Desyatkov.
  • During 1993-95. educational laboratories of information technology, computer modeling, telecommunication systems, circuit design, computer and system architecture were organized, necessary for specialized training of students in the field of IVT.
  • Since 1995, the Department of Information and Computing Technologies (ITT) has been organized as an independent graduating department. She trained software engineers in a five-year program in specialty 220400 “Computer and Automated Systems Software”.
  • Since 1995, students of the department have been actively participating in the world championship in programming.
  • In 1998, the first graduation of specialists (software engineers) was carried out.
  • In 2004, a team of students from the IVT department for the first time in Central Asia won the right to participate in the finals of the World Programming Championship, where they took an honorable 15th place.
  • В 2005 KRSU, represented by the IVT department, was approved as the organizer of the Kyrgyz quarterfinal of the student team world championship in programming according to the rules of the ASM (www.olymp.krsu.edu.kg).
  • Since 2011, the department has switched to a step-by-step system for training bachelors and masters in the field «Software Engineering» in accordance with the educational standards of the new generation of Russia and Kyrgyzstan.
  • During 1994-2013. The department took part in five EU Tempus educational programs.
  • 1994/95 Pre-project (pre-JEP) of the TempusTacis program "Development of training courses for KRSU on information technologies in the field of economics.". Participants: National Technical University of Athens (Greece) - coordinator, University of Plymouth (UK), KRSU.
  • 1998/99 Pre-project (pre-JEP) of the TempusTacis program "Improvement and development of the education system in KRSU in the field of information technology.". Participants: National Technical University of Athens (Greece) - coordinator, University of Gothenburg (Sweden), KRSU.
  • 1999/2001 Compact project of the TempusTacis program "Development of a curriculum for a master's degree in Computer Science and Computer Science at KRSU.". Participants: National Technical University of Athens (Greece), University of Gothenburg (Sweden), University of Newcastle (UK), KRSU.
  • 2004 Individual Mobile Grant (IMG) of the Tempus program «Improving software engineering courses based on modern methodologies and technologies». Participants – UK universities: Queen's University Belfast, University of Westminster, University of Newcastle. Performer – head of the IVT department, prof. G.A. Desyatkov.
  • 2010-2013 Tempus «Higher Education Initiative in Computer Science for Central Asia» program aimed at developing curricula and programs for a two-stage bachelor's/master's degree «Software Engineering» education system, taking into account the experience of European partners.
  • Project participants: Technical University of Dresden (Germany); Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania); Karlstadt University (Sweden); Technological University of Tajikistan; Tajik Institute of Information Technologies and Communications; Tashkent University of Information Technologies; Bukhara Technological University; Kyrgyz Technical University named after. Razzakova; Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.

Based on these completed projects, the department established close educational ties with European universities participating in the projects. Memoranda of Understanding have been signed between KRSU and the universities of Athens, Gothenburg and Newcastle. Within the framework of the projects, representatives of partner universities made multiple mutual trips to exchange experiences. Using project funds, the IVT department acquired computer equipment, programmable FPGA,  boards; methodological developments and literature to support the educational process.

The laboratory includes ETP communication node.

The node provides:

  • development and functioning of the local network of the IVT department and faculty
  • faculty access to the Internet.
